Body found near substation in Valley
VALLEY — The body of a white male was found Wednesday in the 2600 block of 64th Boulevard, according to the Valley Police Department.
A news release from the Valley Police Department said officers were called to the Alabama Power substation at about 8 a.m. after employees were checking the fence line and discovered a possible dead body behind their building.
East Alabama Fire Department and Chambers County Emergency Management Services responded to the scene and verified the person was deceased.
Valley Police described the victim as a slender white male, between the ages of 25- and 30-years age, with a shaved head and wearing gray shorts, a blue long-sleeve shirt and black tennis shoes.
According to the news release, there was no identification found on the man, and there were no obvious signs of trauma that could explain the cause of death.
Valley Police Major Mike Reynolds told The Valley Times-News that police are currently working the case as a death investigation and not a homicide investigation.
The news release said the body will be transported to the state Medical Examiner’s Office in Montgomery for an autopsy to determine the cause of death. Police say detectives are working to identity the victim and figure out what happened prior to his death.
